NBFF Features Program 2017-2020
As Senior Programming Coordinator for the Newport Beach Film Festival's Features Program, I curated and oversaw the selection process of over 350 narrative and documentary films, ensuring a diverse and compelling lineup that reflected the festival's brand.
Collaborating closely with filmmakers, distributors, and industry professionals, I evaluated submissions, negotiated screening rights, and orchestrated the scheduling of screenings and Q&A sessions.
With a keen eye for storytelling and artistic innovation, I had the privilege of presenting both emerging talent and well-established voices within the industry. All of this helped create an engaging cinematic experience for both audiences and filmmakers in attendance.
The Tony Alva Story (2019)
In partnership with Vans, I had the honor of programming and moderating this 2019 documentary on legendary skateboarder and original Z-Boy Tony Alva. This packed screening at the Lido Theater was followed by an unforgettable Q&A with Tony Alva, and directors Rick Charnoski and Coan "Buddy" Nichols.
Michael Inside (2018)
An 18-year-old man living in a Dublin housing estate with his grandfather is caught holding drugs for his friend's older brother and is sentenced to 3 months in prison. This Irish Spotlight won the Audience Award for Best Director, Frank Berry.
Zen Dog (2017)
One of the first films I ever programmed is still, to this day, one of my favorites. Directed by Rick Darge, Zen Dog tells the story of a man trapped by daily routine who begins experiencing complete freedom by dreaming himself across the country in a psychedelic Volkswagen with the guiding words of philosopher Alan Watts.
